Budgeting for Success
Project Estimating and Budgeting (Webinar 6)
Project Managers sometimes confuse a detailed estimate with a budget. But, and estimate is just an approximation of costs. A budget is a tool for controlling those costs.
Budgeting for Success is the last webinar in a 6-part series on Project Estimating and Budgeting. Although they have a lot of similarities, an estimate is not a budget. An estimate is one input to the budget. This webinar examines how to improve cost control by developing the budget in a way that it can be more effectively managed. It explores matching the budget format to the organization’s accounting system, budgeting in proportion to the importance of an activity, facilitating meaningful monitoring points, preparing a spending plan (S curve), and establishing a baseline from which variance can be measured.
Attend this 1-hour presentation to learn how to develop and organize a budget to make it more controllable.
In this webinar participants learn about:
- The difference between an estimate and a budget
- How to develop a spending plan and a cost baseline for monitoring purposes
- How to set up a budget to make the Project Manager’s job of cost control easier to accomplish
